About N.S.Shekhawat
Mr. N. S.Shekhawat completed his five year degree course in Electrical Engineering from a reputed National Institute of Technology with highest academic rank. After teaching in the Engineering College for one year, Mr. Shekhawat, joined the Indian Railway officer’s cadre through an all India competitive Examination scoring first rank all over India, in the Combined Engineering Examination. Since then, he has worked in many technical and managerial position on Indian Railway including Deputy Chief-Railway Electrification; Director-Traction Installation in “Research Development and Standards Organization (RDSO)”; Design Director for high speed upgrade of OLE for the West Coast Main line-UK; Chief Electrical Traction Engineer-Eastern Railway; Group General Manager-systems-RITES Ltd.; Executive Director-RITES Ltd; System Specialist to KTMB; Manager-IRCON International for Electrification of Ankara-Eskisehir Electrification project; Project Head and Director-Delhi Airport Metro Express Pvt. Ltd. and Chief Electrical Engineer (L1) in Western Dedicated Freight Corridor.
He has held various positions in Railway Construction, Operation and Maintenance including Suburban Rail and Metro Rail Projects. He is also credited with introduction of first and only computer aided electrification design using software suite developed by him over more than 350 Track km length of Indian Railway involving several major yards and very low bridges. He also has many other software used in several consultancy assignments to his credit including single train run simulation and multi-train simulation, thermal simulation of bare conductors and cables; system sizing; earthing grid design according to IEEE-80, Calculation of magnetic field strength due to traction conductors and many modules used in railway electrification design.
Mr. Shekhawat, has undertaken several key consultancy assignments including preparation of PETS report for the Dedicated freight corridors and Mumbai-Ahmedabad High speed Corridor in India and similar other projects in many countries. He has attended a large number of seminars and courses on High speed Rail, Heavy haul, Metro Rail and Suburban Rail system including attending High Speed Rail training conducted by UIC and, delivered several lectures on the subject at many Institutions. Such a wide experience across various domains and different type of Railway Operations gives him a deep insight and understanding of nuances concerning planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of Railway lines.
